Konchu, Brussels
For something casual, colourful and full of flavour, Konchu is a lovely little address to discover in Ixelles. This modern Asian fusion restaurant brings a creative twist to street food, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it equally appealing for a quick lunch or an informal dinner with friends.
At lunchtime, the focus is on sandos, Japanese-inspired sandwiches served with a choice of sweet potato fries or a fresh green salad. It’s a simple but appealing concept, particularly when you’re looking for something different from the usual lunchtime options.
In the evening, the menu offers more opportunities to explore, with bao buns, noodle bowls, gyoza and creative small plates that change with the seasons. The idea is to order a few dishes and share, enjoying different flavours and textures around the table.
One of the things I particularly like about Konchu is that it combines a contemporary setting with approachable prices.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal, with a stylish interior that gives the restaurant plenty of character. It’s the kind of place I’d recommend for a casual catch-up, a relaxed lunch or an evening of sharing Asian-inspired dishes.
And if you’re wondering what to order, the bao buns are definitely worth considering. Soft, fluffy and packed with flavour, they’re one of the highlights of the menu.
