In Oostkapelle, the different landscapes merge naturally into a single experience. The beach, the dunes, and the forest flow into one another, creating a landscape that feels both wild and deeply peaceful. This is a place where you can walk along shaded woodland paths straight onto an open stretch of sand, with the North Sea waiting just beyond.

🏖 Beaches, dunes and seals
The beach is wide, clean, and never feels overly crowded. The sand is soft and ideal for long walks, whether you go early in the morning or later in the day.
Behind the beach, the dunes create a natural transition into the landscape. There are many small paths through the dunes, some leading directly to the beach, others connecting to the forest.

🌲 Forest paths in the Manteling
The Manteling van Walcheren is a coastal forest just behind the dunes.
The walking paths are well marked and easy to follow. The trees grow in unusual shapes due to the sea wind, which gives the forest a distinct character. It is a good place for a shaded walk, especially on warmer days.
Many of the paths eventually lead back towards the dunes and the beach, so it is easy to combine different routes.

🦌 Wildlife along the coast
The area around Oostkapelle has a good mix of wildlife.
Deer are often seen near the edge of the forest, especially early in the morning or towards sunset. Birdlife is very present along the coast, with seabirds along the shoreline and smaller birds in the dunes.
You may also see grazing horses or cattle in the dune areas, which are used to help maintain the landscape.

Practical guide for a visit
🅿️ Where to park
A good option is the car park at Parkeerplaats Randduin, which gives direct access to both the beach and the dunes.
You can also park at Parkeerplaats De Vier Hoogten, which is ideal if you want to start with a forest walk.
🏨 A boutique hotel nearby
If you want to stay close to nature, Villa Magnolia is a good choice.
Set in a historic villa dating back to the early 1900s, it combines character with a calm, relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and often come with a terrace or balcony overlooking the garden or surrounding countryside.
What makes it particularly appealing is the setting. You are within walking distance of the forest, dunes, and beach, so it works perfectly as a base for exploring the area on foot or by bike.
The large garden, with its pond and quiet corners, adds to the sense of space, and breakfast is served in a bright conservatory overlooking the greenery.
It feels more like staying in a private house than a hotel, simple, comfortable, and very well located for a few days by the sea.
