London has always been part of my life. As a child, I often visited my grandparents in Cranley Gardens, Muswell Hill. Now, years later, the city has returned to my world in full force as I visit my daughter while she studies in central London.

Since I don’t have family in the city anymore, I try different hotels depending on where my daughter is living. This has given me the chance to explore a variety of London hotels across different neighborhoods — from luxury riverside stays to charming boutique hideaways and convenient budget options.
In this guide, I’ll share my personal experiences and tips to help you find the best hotels in London, whatever your budget.

My Recommended Hotels in London
Here are the London hotels I’ve stayed in, with their price ranges and highlights:
The Hoxton, Southwark
Some hotels are simply somewhere to sleep but The Hoxton Southwark feels like somewhere you want to spend time.
It’s an excellent choice for couples, food lovers and anyone who enjoys exploring London on foot, with the South Bank, Borough Market and Covent Garden all within easy reach.
After long days wandering around London, it was always a pleasure to come back to its relaxed atmosphere, grab a coffee or a cocktail in the lobby, and simply slow down for a while. If you’re craving a little greenery, head next door to Panda Cup Coffee, pick up one of their delicious banana breads, and enjoy it on a nearby bench in the churchyard.
I loved how much of the city I could reach on foot, from the South Bank and Borough Market to Covent Garden… and, conveniently, my daughter’s flat 😉. If, like me, you enjoy discovering a city at walking pace, it’s an ideal base.
The staff were genuinely welcoming, the rooms felt thoughtfully designed, and one unexpected detail made all the difference: the wonderfully quiet air conditioning. It may sound like a small thing, but after a busy day exploring London, a peaceful night’s sleep is priceless.
Whether you’re planning a weekend escape or combining work with a few days of sightseeing, this is one of those hotels that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Why I Joined Dis-loyalty
I’m not usually drawn to traditional hotel loyalty programmes. I prefer choosing hotels because they suit the destination rather than staying loyal to one brand. Instead of collecting points, you enjoy benefits from your very first stay while discovering some of my favourite lifestyle hotels.
Some of the perks include:
- 20% off your first stay and 10% off return stays.
- 50% off newly opened hotels during their opening period.
- 10% off restaurants and bars, even if you’re not staying overnight.
- A complimentary barista-made drink every day.
- Access to over 120 stylish hotels including The Hoxton, Mondrian, Hyde, Mama Shelter and 25hours.
- Ideal if, like me, you enjoy discovering different cities and hotels rather than sticking to just one chain.
For anyone who enjoys city breaks, boutique hotels and memorable food experiences, it’s a membership that’s easy to make the most of.
The Guardsman hotel
The Guardsman hotel is a stylish boutique hotel in Westminster, just a short walk from Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station. It feels more like a private members’ club, with cozy rooms and thoughtful details like padded eye masks. The beds are so comfortable and the room is so cozy, you will have the best night’s sleep ever.
If you’re celebrating a special occasion or want a boutique luxury stay close to Buckingham Palace, this is a wonderful option.
This hotel is also part of a program called I Prefer.

St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel
For those who love history and grandeur, the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is a true London landmark. Attached to St Pancras International Station, it’s both convenient and breathtaking.
The architecture is stunning, the service excellent, and the spa is perfect for relaxing after a busy day exploring London. If you want a luxury stay with a sense of history, this hotel is hard to beat.
This is a great choice if you’re arriving by Eurostar, appreciate historic architecture or simply want to make your hotel part of the London experience.

Lime Tree Hotel
The Lime Tree Hotel in Belgravia is a charming townhouse boutique property offering excellent value for money. Rooms are thoughtfully designed, service is warm and personal, and the atmosphere is homely.
I think it’s particularly well suited to travellers looking for a quieter, more residential side of London, while still being within walking distance of many of the city’s highlights.
The only downside is the lack of a lift, some rooms are on the 4th floor, but that’s part of its townhouse character.

Address: 135 – 137 Ebury St, London SW1W 9QU
Nearest station: halfway between Victoria and Sloane Square stations, it takes about 5 minutes to walk to either one
Price: From around €140 per night, with most stays ranging between €140 and €305, depending on the season and availability.
Hub by Premier Inn London King’s Cross hotel
If you’re searching for a budget hotel in London near King’s Cross, the Hub by Premier Inn is a smart and practical choice.
It’s ideal for solo travellers, short city breaks or anyone arriving by Eurostar who wants a comfortable base without paying central London boutique hotel prices.
The rooms are small but cleverly designed, with tech-friendly features and everything you need for a short stay. Many rooms don’t have windows, but mood-lit lighting creates a cozy feel. I stayed here for one night before catching an early train, and it was ideal.
There are over 20 Hub by Premier Inn spread out in London.

Address: 50 Wharfdale Rd., London N1 9FA
Nearest station: King’s Cross St. Pancras London Underground

Whenever possible, choose a flexible rate. It gives you the freedom to adapt your plans if something unexpected comes up, and that peace of mind is something I always look for when planning my own trips. After all, travel should be exciting, not stressful.
Every traveller experiences London differently. Some prefer staying close to museums and theatres, while others want riverside walks, neighbourhood cafés or somewhere convenient for Eurostar. These are simply the hotels I’ve genuinely enjoyed staying in and would happily recommend again.
If you’re planning a trip to London and would like help choosing the right neighbourhood, hotel and restaurants, I’d love to help you design a personalised itinerary.
